This series just won’t let go of me. (It’s also one of the most technically difficult things I’ve ever done).

Anyway this is my poppy head series so far. They’re all monoprints, which I foolishly thought would be quick to do. Silly me.
Each print is roughly A4. Just to be clear, despite being prints there is only one of each (hence - monoprint!).

(Another) Opium Head. Yes, you’re right, I do seem to do a lot of series’. What can I say? Hope you’re still enjoying this series, cause there’s a few more bubbling away.
It’s a monoprint again, the print itself is about A4.

Opium Head #5. I’ve no idea how I did this. But I’m well pleased I did. lovely old modernist/zen values of embracing accident and letting the medium have its way. Monoprint on A4 Awagami paper.

Some kind of lambent, ethereal thing going on here. The unpredictable, uncontrollable nature of monoprint is a welcome tonic to my tendency to over-literal depiction. A kind of auto-looseness, which I like very much.
Monoprints are one-off prints. They exist in a hybrid hinterland betwixt painting and printmaking. Yes, it is kind of absurd as a key point of prints is to make multiples, but I like that. (Approx A4.)

A post for @ebmsoderstrom. Thinking about life and growth and decline. Sometimes it’s all an overwhelming tangle. But the tiniest shift of the head and that tangle can be pulsing with energy, and unfolding futures in front of our eyes. (Well, to be honest those futures are gonna unfold come what may, but you get my drift). So here’s to friendship, and whatever support we may be able to give. 🚀

My first monoprint. Never tried this technique before. It’s completely wild, very tricky to control, no going back, no undoing any mark, and random marks popping up all over - but very promising results. (It’s a dried artichoke flower).
